CUBASGA Call for Papers

November 14, 2011

The 2012 University of Colorado Boulder Asian Studies Graduate Association invites graduate students to submit papers that consider the traditions of Asia, ancient and modern.  All fields of research on all areas of Asia are encouraged to apply; including religious studies, history, literature, history of science, philosophy, anthropology, political science, comparative literature, etc.

The conference will include a keynote address by Professor Robert Joe Cutter of Arizona State University.  In addition to discussing topics in early China, Professor Cutter and University of Colorado faculty will be on hand to provide feedback to presenters throughout the conference.  Beyond exploring various topics in Asian Studies, our conferences have always focused on professional development for graduate students interested in presenting papers and becoming involved in academic networks with others in the field.  Our two day schedule encompassing Friday, March 2, and Saturday, March 3, includes refreshments provided by the Boulder Asian Studies Graduate Association and a dinner on Friday night for student presenters and faculty.  Fifteen to twenty-minute presentations will be expected, with time for comments and questions for each paper.  Prospective participants should submit an abstract of the paper they intend to present and a résumé or curriculum vitae if possible.  Please send all applications and inquiries to cubasga@gmail.com by the deadline of January 17, 2012.

With best regards,

The University of Colorado Boulder Asian Studies Graduate Association (CUBASGA)
